Ohio State University Police are investigating two threatening comments that were posted on The Lantern's Web site on Friday about 9:30 p.m.

The threats were posted in the comments section to a story that ran Thursday in the paper and on thelantern.com. The story was about a chemistry department teaching assistant who was fired for encouraging her students to cheat in a chemistry lab. The TA, Melissa Stredney, sent threatening e-mails to her students after her supervisor confronted her about the cheating.

The story has had high readership since it was posted on thelantern.com and it had 66 comments by Saturday morning.

The two posts have been taken off the Web site. They said they were from Stredney, but that has not been confirmed. They were very threatening and appeared to be directed at the lab students. The posts referred to the shootings at Virginia Tech two years ago.

University Police Lt. Rick Green said that the police have been notified of the postings and are investigating.

"We are taking the posting seriously," Green said. "We are taking extra security measures. We are fully investigating right now and trying to determine the origin of those postings."
