Can seeker wanders through students' homes A 22-year-old Ohio State student woke up Friday morning to find a man in the living room of his East 15th Avenue home. When the student asked what the man was doing there, he replied that he was looking for cans, and that he had let himself into the house. When the student told him to leave, he ran out of the house. There was nothing reported missing from the home.
Another 22-year-old OSU student told police that the same thing happened at his home on East Lane Avenue half an hour later. Nothing was reported stolen from that home either, and the man also entered through an unlocked door at that home.
Students mobbed by robbers Three OSU students were robbed by a group of men at 2:19 a.m. Friday near 65 E. 13th Ave. The students told police they were walking on the sidewalk when a group of six to eight men approached them. One of the men punched a female student, grabbed her by the arm and stole her wallet and cell phone from her. Another man punched one of the male students in the face, stole his wallet and took the money out, and then threw the money back at the student. The group of men then got into a car and fled the scene.
Man shot in rear An 18-year-old man was shot in the buttocks at 7:20 p.m. Thursday while he was standing near North Fourth Street and East Eighth Avenue. No one was arrested, but police are investigating the shooting.
He assaulted me, roommates say Two men who live together at a residence on the 1500 block of North Fourth Street called police early Saturday morning, each one saying he was assaulted by the other. The 27-year-old man said his roommate assaulted him after an argument, but says the attack was unprovoked. The 33-year-old man said that his roommate charged at him, so he wrestled him to the ground. His roommate had visible marks on his neck when police arrived, but he denied choking him. Neither of the men was arrested and both were referred to the county prosecutor's office.
Spitting man pulls out knife A 19-year-old Grove City resident said a man spit on him at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday while he was walking near North High Street and East Eighth Avenue. A confrontation ensued and the alleged spitter pulled out a pocketknife and threatened the other man with it. No one was arrested, but police filed a report for menacing.
Daughter threatened father's life A 39-year-old University District resident reported to police that Friday afternoon his daughter told him she was going to get boys from the neighborhood to shoot him at his home. Police filed a report for menacing, but the man's daughter was not arrested.
Good Samaritan recovers iPod Thursday night, while a 24-year-old OSU student was walking near Summit Street and East Maynard Avenue, someone grabbed the iPod Nano she was holding and ran away. A witness chased the thief and recovered the iPod for the student.
Woman assaulted after money dispute A 24-year-old woman told police that a man she has known for more than a year struck her in the face early Friday morning at a residence on the 1300 block of North Fifth Street. She said he struck her during a dispute over money. When police arrived, the man had left and there were no witnesses.
Thief steals student's car Someone stole a 26-year-old student's Jeep Friday night while it was parked in front of his home on the 0-100 block of West Tompkins Street.
