On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Panhellenic Association hosted the first Chapter Showcase Night. The event took place at Independence Hall from 7 to 9 p.m.

At the event, students interested in sorority life had the opportunity to learn about each of the Panhellenic sororities. Each sorority gave a brief presentation about the sisterhood, philanthropic, social and scholastic aspects of their organization.

Following the presentation, interested students could visit each sorority's table to meet the members and learn more about the group.

"It was a really good opportunity for interested members to breakdown preconceived notions they had about the sororities," said Missy Glazer, a fourth-year in family science and vice president of recruitment for the Panhellenic Association. "They got to see how we all have a common goal. We're all built on the same tenants of service, scholarship and sisterhood."

The event gave interested members the chance to learn about the sororities before formal recruitment begins winter quarter.

"This was the first time we had this event and I think it achieved its goal," Glazer said. "We wanted to give interested members the chance to learn about each of the Panhellenic sororities and through the presentations, they did."
