Safety Guy far from self-defense expert

To the Editor:

I am concerned about The Lantern's choice for a safety columnist. Karl Spaulding might be a security guard, but he is in no way a self-defense expert.

Are you aware that he was removed from teaching self-defense at Ohio State University because of his uninformed, non-researched teaching style?

Perhaps one of OSU's actual self-defense instructor's would be a better choice for a column like this. They have years of expertise and training in matters of safety, and specifically student safety.
