Tucker Max is a self-proclaimed jerk who glorifies the objectification of women and the mockery of other guys. He retells all of his stories online, in print and on stage, like he did in Hitchcock Hall on Monday night.
While the lecture hall was overflowing with Max's fans, about 50 college students stood outside protesting his frat-boy antics. Protesters called Max a rapist and publicly reprimanded the Ohio Union Activities Board for supporting his controversial appearance.
Frankly, I think the protesters were the ones being stupid. I do not, and will not, feel bad for women who are objectified by men like Tucker Max. My problem is not with a guy who has found a brilliant way to make tons of money - by telling his story - my problem is with the girls who star in that story.
Read his work and you'll see, every girl he has taken advantage of is usually drunk, seeking attention, and is always acting stupid. Walk down 15th Avenue on any Thursday, Friday or Saturday night and you will find dozens of them.
It's girls like that who make men like Max think they can have their way with any girl they please. A lot of these women set themselves up to be objectified.
Tucker Max is a disgusting man and he does exploit some women. However, he wouldn't have anything to write about if women protected themselves and started acting a little smarter.
They shamelessly flirt, wear clothing that only covers about 30 percent of their bodies and get so drunk that they'll jump into the car of any sweet-talking man in a nice shirt. Heck, he doesn't even have to be wearing a nice shirt and he'll probably score.
Girls, stop feeding yourselves to the likes of Tucker Max. I'm willing to bet that nine out of 10 women who have slept with Max or similar men would not have done so if they had sobered up enough to make a proper judgment.
The problem is that women go to a bar or a frat party and dance with a guy for 20 minutes, let him buy her some drinks, then take his "generosity" as a sign that he's a decent guy and end up alone in his apartment. The next morning they wake up without a cell phone number or a shred of dignity, and in bad need of a "walk of shame" kit.
Ladies, have some self respect. Don't blame men like Max because they are smart enough to take advantage of you. We can't expect men to have the highest moral compasses, but we can expect ourselves to have some intelligence.
Please stop seeking out the momentary gratification that comes with a one-night stand and hold yourself to a higher standard. I promise you will feel better about yourself if you stay away from guys who are only looking to score.
Max is not going to stop exploiting women until he's in his grave, so instead of protesting him, let's work on getting women to act with some more self respect. I have faith that women don't have to go home with random men to feel good about themselves. I know that women out there are smarter than they are acting, so let's show those men.
We don't have to go home with sleazy men and we don't have to take their poor treatment, but it's up to us to make the difference happen.
Girls who use their brains have a significantly smaller chance of being taken advantage of sexually, it's a simple fact of nature. Be smart about the guys you decide to hook up with, and you won't end up starring in Max's next book.
