Underground cult hero Damon Zex returns to the entertainment world tonight as he hosts the Anarchist's Cookbook, a fun filled festival of music and degradation.

The show, an elaborate concert to promote voter registration, will feature the musical styling of Screamingurge, Baby Lindy and the Drugmothers, Rat Pack and more.

The night will also feature open mic poetry and a rehash of the infamous "Sphincter of Normalcy" speech which Zex made before the City of Columbus in retaliation to giving public access the axe.

"It was really intimidating, because they were sitting above me like judges, and I knew I was going to go in there and say all these things to them," Zex said.

Zex is best known for his dark public access television show which featured drug use, simulated sex and violence.

Zex is internationally known as a filmmaker and general challenger of the moral majority. Shows from his public access heyday are shown in syndicate on the BBC 4 in England, and his film, "F- - - for Drugs," is featured in a film class at Indiana University.

He is working on a new film project called "Checkmate," which he describes as a "really dark, twisted use of chess." The film is a 28 minute, made-for-TV piece that parodies silent films in a early '60s television format.

Before the days of his controversial show and indie-film fame, Zex was a DJ and Goth scenester. Seven years ago this Halloween he was DJing in a club in Indianapolis when he met his longtime girlfriend Tamara, or the Black Witch, as she is better known.

"At the end of my set I shouted out that I was going to find The Black Witch that night, and then I ran into Tamara, and I had seen her making fun of my laugh on a video tape of this party," Zex said.

"You don't get a better line than that. 'Hey I saw you making fun of me at a party.' You just don't get a better line," he said.

Tamara has been referred to as The Black Witch by media and general populous since that fateful day.

"It's completely unlike anything I've ever done before; he's someone I've never gotten bored with," said The Black Witch of her time with Zex.

The show starts at 9 p.m. at High Five, at the corner of High Street and Fifth Avenue. Tickets are $5 at the door.
