Week 8 has blown in, making many pass The Lantern on the left. But never fear reading faithful; we have more juicy tales emerging from the legends lair. Last week several assumed the frat house fire was the true tale. If so, you were too easily conned. As for racist sidewalk symbolism, no Celtic cross can be found on the Oval. The truth was the unforgivable sin of our faculty turning down the Rose Bowl. So take off your "Woody" hats and put on your thinking caps, it is up to you to read these three deciding which is true.

"Drink One for Drinko" - Since its founding in 1891, the College of Law in Drinko Hall played a leading role in the legal world through countless contributions made by alumni and faculty. The building is named after internationally known attorney John Deaver Drinko from Cleveland. Drinko received his law degree from Ohio State University. With the winning of the University's Distinguished Alumnus award in 1991, ironic facts were uncovered after a review of his youthful past.

Legend has it Drinko was convicted of several DUI's while he attended OSU's law school. The famous coined line "Drink one for Drinko" spread throughout the student body, with the legend of Drinko and his crazy nights whispered on High Street every senior crawl.

"The Tale of the Stolen Screenplay" - When college students think of the most influential film of the '90s, scores say "Pulp Fiction." Imitated and copied, plagiarized and paraphrased; the inventive style Quentin Tarantino used won him Best Original Screenplay in '94. Legend has it Tarantino poached the style from a former OSU grad. Film student Chris Langer finished the apex of his work for his thesis. His proposed screenplay was one of transcendence. He approached Mary Tarantino, his professor and thesis advisor to get approval for filming. She rejected it but kept the screenplay for further review. Langer continued on another idea, she passed the paperwork to her son, Quentin, as a birthday gift. Less than two years later, "Pulp Fiction" was winning countless awards and recognition, with Langer left swimming through the seaweed of Tarantino's lies.

"The Cannon Road Cannibal" - Ohio State is the alma mater of several famous celebrities. From Jack Nicklaus to James Thurber, they all trace their roots back to Columbus. Unbelievably even Jeffrey Dahmer, "The Milwaukee Cannibal," can claim he is a Buckeye. Legend has it he resided in Morrill Tower, and was known to routinely tote beer to class with him and return drunk. His roommate Michael Prochaska recalled Dahmer's involvement as the only suspect in the theft of a watch, radio and $120 that were taken from another room. His father recalled his son's room, as many other freshman dorm rooms, littered with bottles of booze. Dahmer attended OSU in the fall of 1961, a mere two years after his first slaying in Bath, Ohio, dropping out after a quarter to pursue "other interests."
