Football tickets on sale Monday
Buckeye fans have a limited window to purchase tickets to see Ohio State take on Toledo in Cleveland on Sept. 19.
Just more than 6,000 tickets will be available for OSU fans. Because Toledo was designated the home team, it received the majority of the ticket allotment to disburse to students and alumni.
Therefore, tickets for the game must be purchased Monday at the University of Toledo ticket office, and the athletic department expects them to run out quickly.
Former OSU football coach inducted into Hall of Fame
Sorry, cynical Buckeye fans, beating Michigan isn't a criterion for Hall of Fame consideration.
Former OSU football coach John Cooper was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
In his 13 seasons at the helm in Columbus, Cooper led OSU to a 111-43-4 record and earned three shared Big Ten titles. However, it was his 3-8 mark in bowl games and 2-10-1 showing against the school up north that many OSU fans refuse to overlook.
Known for his excellent recruiting at OSU, Cooper coached numerous NFL-bound players including Antoine Winfield, Orlando Pace, David Boston, Eddie George, Terry Glenn, Mike Vrabel, Robert Smith and Joey Galloway.
Overall in his 24-year coaching career, Cooper finished with a mark of 192-84-6.
Other Hall of Fame inductees included coach Lou Holtz, running back Thurman Thomas, quarterback Troy Aikman and wide receiver Rod Smith.
Bucks to host Seminoles in annual tournament
OSU will host Florida State at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 as part of the 2009 ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
In last season's tournament, the Buckeyes knocked off Miami University in south Florida. The ACC has won the overall competition each year since it began in 1999, including six of the 11 games in 2008.
Penn State and Virginia will tip off the upcoming edition of the Challenge, with several other marquee matchups also on the slate.
Wake Forest and Purdue, a pair of NCAA Tournament teams in March, will square off in West Lafayette, Ind., and a national championship rematch will feature Michigan State and North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The contest between the Buckeyes and Seminoles will conclude the three-day tournament.
Buckeye backer files suit against university
A hearing-impaired Buckeye fan wants the opportunity to share in the complete experience at OSU football games.
That's why Vincent Sabino, 32, filed a lawsuit against the university claiming that the lack of captions on the scoreboard violates the American with Disabilities Act.
Sabino said he can't hear the announcers, referees' calls or vital information on video replays. Scoreboard captions would keep hearing-impaired fans updated on every play and every whistle, according to the lawsuit.
