Chris Paulitz's article is to be commended for being able to assign all of our country's moral ills to one culture of Americans. Imagine, gays represent everything from public indecency to murder. I respect your opinion, Chris, but your extreme bias grossly misrepresents the function of National Coming Out Day. So you say that gay people deserve the derogatory comments and violence they get because of proudly and loudly demonstrating their self identity? Chris, gay people are beaten with heterosexuality 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Everything from advertisements, to literature, to couples kissing in the park forces heterosexuality on gays. As for the black peoples struggle, I agree, the two movements are different. However, it is NOT a different story between skin color and sexuality as you stated. Sexuality occurs naturally as does melanin. Your argument against gay marriage is that it would change the tax structure? Isn't changing the tax structure what our politicians are trying to do anyway? I doubt any gay couple wants to marry simply to gain a tax credit on their 1040. You say the most important issue is that God created marriage for a man and a woman to procreate. This is true. Any sexual act that is not procreation is forbidden in the eyes of God. You think a child that grows up in a non-traditional family will not have spiritual guidance and lack morals? What about the child who is adopted by a gay couple because the parents were crack addicts? Are you saying that all heterosexuals couples are morally sound and spiritually pure? What this country can not afford, Chris, is individuals such as yourself spreading outrageous misconceptions about gay peoples worthiness as human beings.
