The Ohio State men’s basketball team learned its NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday, but on Monday, it was the women’s turn.

The Buckeyes (25-6) were awarded the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament’s Des Moines Regional and will battle No. 9 Florida Sunday in their first game. OSU coach Jim Foster’s squad will play the first weekend of tournament games at Bowling Green State University’s Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Foster is leading the Buckeyes to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th consecutive season.

OSU made a run to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals where it was eliminated by Nebraska, 77-62, on March 3.

Should the Buckeyes advance to the round of 32 teams, they will be hard pressed to move farther — No. 1 seed and undefeated Baylor would likely be their second-round opponent.

First thing first, though — OSU must take care of business against the Gators.

Florida gained passage to the NCAA Tournament by posting a 19-12 overall record, as well as an 8-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play.

The Buckeyes’ game against the Gators is scheduled to tip at 12:15 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
