Bayonetta 2 is the sequel to Bayonetta, both developed by Japanese studio PlatinumGames Inc. which is known for highly-stylized actions games. It was released for the Wii U and was published by Nintendo. Bayonetta 2 is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.

Bayonetta, a powerful and saucy witch, hunts angels for a living along with her fellow witch Jeanne. In a mishap, Jeanne is taken to hell by a demon by mistake. Bayonetta travels through an approximation of modern Europe on her way to Hell in order to save her friend. On the way she meets a young man, Loki, who is also traveling there, despite not knowing why due to amnesia.

The game’s combat is its centerpiece. Bayonetta uses her signature guns as well as whips, bazookas, and swords to attack enemies with speed and grace. Every enemy encounter is ranked based on how well you did, and players are encouraged to replay levels over and over to attain a perfect rank and unlock secret items. Battles with massive enemies are a treat; each major encounter being both a welcome change of pace compared to normal battles as well as a showcase of the Wii U’s graphical power.
