Ohio State defensive coordinator and former Penn State assistant coach Greg Schiano said that he “never saw any abuse, nor did have reason to suspect any abuse” by former PSU assistant Jerry Sandusky during his time at Penn State from 1990-1995.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter received those words from Schiano in response to allegations that he saw Sandusky “doing something to a boy in a shower” in the ’90s.

According to court records unsealed on Tuesday, the testimony of former assistant coach Mike McQueary said that Schiano came into then-assistant coach Tom Bradley’s office “as white as a ghost.” Schiano told Bradley that he saw Sandusky “doing something to a boy in a shower,” according to McQueary.

McQueary said Bradley told him what Schiano said, but it’s unclear where the information went after that.

At that time, Bradley was the team’s outside linebackers and special teams coach, making he and Schiano peers. Sandusky was PSU’s defensive coordinator at the time Schiano was on staff.

Convicted in 2012, Sandusky is currently serving a 30-to-60-year sentence of 45 counts of sexual abuse on young boys. The documents allege that former PSU coach Joe Paterno knew about the abuse in 1976.

Schiano was a Nittany Lions’ graduate assistant in 1990 and its defensive backs coach from 1991 to 1995.

2016 will be Schiano’s first season on staff after replacing Chris Ash who left OSU to be the head coach at Rutgers, a job Schiano served in from 2001-2011. He then became the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach from 2012-2013.
