After two straight wins at home, the Ohio State men’s soccer team looked as though it had begun the road to turning its season around.
Bowling Green proved to be a bump on that road.
The Buckeyes took on the Falcons on Saturday night, where they fell by a score of 2-0, dropping their record to 3-6 on the season.
Bowling Green got on the board just eight minutes into the match. After a scramble of players from both sides right in front of the mouth of the OSU goal, Bowling Green redshirt senior midfielder Max Auden was able to sneak one through to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
The score would not change until midway through the second period.
In the 67th minute, the Buckeyes made an errant pass deep in their own zone. The Falcons gained control of the ball and Bowling Green freshman forward Robert Miller III buried it into the back of the net from 12 yards out, giving Bowling Green a 2-0 lead.
It was the fourth time the Scarlet and Gray has been blanked this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Anthony Mwembia had a terrific night in net for the Falcons, recording five saves in the shutout performance.
OSU outshot Bowling Green 16-9 in the game, with corner kicks even at two a piece.
Buckeyes junior forward Nate Kohl led the team in shots with three, with seven different players each recording at least one shot.
OSU returns to Columbus on Wednesday to take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. It will be will be the first game in a two game stretch at home for the Buckeyes.
