Les Wexner has resigned from his position on the Ohio State Board of Trustees.

Les Wexner will be stepping down from his position on the Ohio State Board of Trustees effective immediately.

University spokeswoman Shelly Hoffman said that a reason wasn’t given for his resignation. His remaining term was due to end in 2020.

Attempts to contact Wexner Friday afternoon were unsuccessful.

In April Wexner completed his term as Board Chair, the position now held by Robert Schottenstein.

Wexner's time on the Board dates to 1988, according to the university press release.

President E. Gordon Gee noted Wexner’s contributions over the years.

"Les Wexner has provided extraordinary leadership to the university during times of significant change and progress, and we are grateful for his service,” he said in the university release.

Wexner has made several financial contributions to OSU during his time on the Board. In 2011 Wexner made a $100 million donation to the university and in February the medical center was renamed the Wexner Medical Center at the Ohio State University.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced two new appointees to the Board — Cheryl Krueger and Benjamin Reinke. Krueger has been appointed for a nine-year term ending in May 2021, and Reinke for a two-year term ending in May 2014 serving as a student member.

The announcement was made on the day that university officials announced they would be bringing the $483 million parking agreement before the Board later this month.

Somebody should look into the French investment group that has its hands in this parking privatization scandle and the connections good old Les has to that firm. I'm sure his abrupt resignation has nothing to do with the amount of money he stands to gain from this parking deal. Gee, Wexner, and our CFO should be run out of town and/or jailed for their greed and dishonor that they have brought to our beloved campus.

If Gee really cared about OSU as much as he says he does, he would leave and return to Utah....that alone would save the university a lot of $$$.

Wonder why he would donate/pledge $200 million to the medical center then step down from the board!?

Wexner resigned when the deal for the parking sale came out. Maybe that is the reason for Mr. Wexner's decision. Especially a foreign company.

And now Mr. Gee, we will gladly accept your resignation. You can send the resignation to your boss, Urban Meyer.

All of the wealthy, corporately connected (i.e., ALL) trustees should step down. They have no business making decisions for students. The continuing and incremental corporatization of the university provides ample evidence of their inability to make good decisions.

Don't forget the upcoming Airport deal, the Golf course deal, the dining hall / food service deal, the dorm deal, the CABS deal, the Privatization of Public Safety / OSU PD deal, and Trademark and Licensing deal... to name a few that will be inked within the next 2 years!
$Bucks$ Forward OSU!

When the fallout over the Lantern deal, the parking deal and the Uniprint deal hit the fan, even Brutus will want nothing to do with OSU. What a shame for this fine institution...

Well, since the Gee/Alutto axis has become expert at ignoring the "little people" (i.e., faculty, staff, and students), maybe this will get their attention (although I'm not holding my breath - this administration is particularly tone-deaf). What they don't seem to understand (and Les does) is that the university and its people are one and the same. Something can't be good for the university while simultaneously bad for employees and students.

NO KICKBACKS!!! Coming to work/study (i.e., parking) should be a benefit, not a profit-making operation. Someone needs to stop this cannibalism before it goes any further.

OSU hospital employees, patients, families and visitors will be paying for the projected income.

They will see higher prices prices as a result of this abandonment of a locally controlled operation.

Now that the University has ceded control, there will be no end to escalating parking costs associated with selecting OSU medical center instead of Riverside., Mount Carmel and other fine central Ohio facilities.

Also, I'd think that the University could have at least given a nod to an Ohio-based company instead of a foreign corporation. This is just one more unfortunate example of Ohio's tax-supported institutions sending our money out-of-state to overseas companies.

Seems to me like he's still providing extraordinary leadership to the university.
