The Lantern named best Ohio student newspaper for 3rd straight year

For the third year in a row, The Lantern took home the award for General Excellence in the 2013 Ohio Newspaper Association Ohio Collegiate Newspaper competition.

The Lantern placed in all categories in the competition, results of which were announced in a Thursday afternoon ceremony.

Division A includes newspapers from Kent State, Ohio University, the University of Cincinnati and Bowling Green State University.

The Lantern won first place for photojournalism, newspaper website and design, second place for news coverage and headline writing and third place for sports coverage, editorial writing and arts and entertainment.

The Lantern was the only collegiate newspaper in Ohio to place in all eight categories.
