Warm weather sets record high in Columbus

Ohio State students were greeted by a record temperature on Tuesday. A high of 67 degrees was recorded in Columbus, the highest Jan. 29 temperature recorded in city history by the National Weather Service.

The 67-degree temperature was recorded at Port Columbus International Airport at 3:37 p.m., according to the NWS forecast office in Wilmington, Ohio. The previous record for Jan. 29 was 65 degrees, a temperature recorded in both 2002 and 1975.

The normal average temperature in Columbus for Jan. 29 is 30 degrees, according to the NWS.

Wednesday’s NWS forecast calls for a high of 60 degrees with a chance of showers, but Thursday’s forecast is for temperatures to drop back below 30 degrees with a chance of snow showers.
