Man killed in shooting on East 18th Avenue

A 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting Thursday, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on East 18th Avenue at 4:24 a.m. to respond to a report that shots had been fired. They found one victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. He was pronounced dead at 4:45 a.m.

A second victim also sustained several gunshot wounds and injuries to his head. He was transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center in stable condition.

Police transported a third individual who was in the apartment to police headquarters to be interviewed regarding the incident.

Police have not released the name of the victim because of safety concerns, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Do we know where exactly on 18th this happened? Were either of the victims students at Ohio State?

BTW Elizabeth, if you do make contact with the tenant(s), be aware that the defender may not "want to talk about it." There is something referred to as "the mark of Cain syndrome" in which survivors who have had to kill in self-defense suffer are sometimes regarded by the ignorant as "killers" themselves, instead of a person who was forced into a difficult situation.
