Smells of exotic foods saturated the air and ethnic music mingled with the crowd's chatter Friday at the Taste of OSU and World Carnival.
About 4,500 people crowded into the Recreational and Physical Activity Center to experience international food and cultural performances.
Thirty-five student organizations prepared food and displays that represented 24 countries. Maureen Miller, director of communications for the Office of International Affairs at Ohio State, said the Taste of OSU is an important event because it exposes the campus community different cultures that are becoming increasingly global in nature.
Guests purchased food tickets for $1; the organizations will receive all the proceeds from the tickets they collected, Miller said.
