Dam demolition doomed
The demolition of the Fifth Avenue Dam is in jeopardy due to federal budget cuts, according to a Feb. 1 press release from the city.

Of the total $1.82 million cost of the project, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had agreed to pay $1.2 million, but that entire amount has been cut. The city had agreed to pay the remaining $640,000, which are the fines owed by the city for sewer overflows into rivers.

One of the most beautiful and secluded off-campus areas will soon receive a million dollar face-lift.

Iuka Ravine, located between North Fourth Street and Woodruff Avenue, will be rebricked in the spring by the Columbus Department of Transportation.

Transitional Work Program quickly saves $2.2 million

Amy Staiger kicked off her winter quarter with strep throat.

"I went to the doctor on New Year's Eve and was put on amoxicillin and had to stay in," said Staiger, a sophomore in childhood education. "It was horrible. I fell asleep before the ball dropped."
