Obama talks healthcare
Sen. Barack Obama listened intently as a former Ohio State student told him how, after having a baby in 2007, she was uninsured and unable to return to school because she cannot afford childcare.

"It's a catch-22," said Claire Roderick, who has three quarters left of student teaching at OSU. Roderick said that in order to get health insurance, "I've got to finish school so I can get my job so I can pay for childcare."

Clinton gets personal

Hillary Clinton held a rally in Columbus earlier in February full of high energy and excitement; this time around she chose to have a more personal discussion with voters. The presidential hopeful invited four Ohio citizens she met along the campaign trail to facilitate a discussion of how she plans to fix the nation's dwindling economy.

USG works to deter panhandling

Deterring aggressive panhandling and setting up closed-circuit cameras were a few of the topics discussed among about 60 attendees at an Undergraduate Student Government event Thursday.

At the third annual Safety Summit, USG members, police officers and advisers to the city council offered opinions on how to improve living conditions off-campus.

After a long, awkward silence, a student finally offered an opinion - then another, and another, while Justin Luna intently listened to his suddenly engaged tour group.

It can be a struggle for students to find a place of worship near campus for their particular religion. Fortunately, students do not have to look hard.

On studentaffairs.osu.edu, there is a list of Ohio State's participating faiths as well as contact information for interested students.

OSU deconstructing two halls

OSU deconstructing two halls
Ohio State will tear down two 100-year-old buildings this spring. Lord Hall will be replaced with more parking spaces, and Brown Hall will fall to give students more green space.

Kristin Poldemann, project manager for design and construction at OSU, said there are a couple reasons why the buildings are being demolished. "The first big thing is deferred maintenance, which is obvious ... it is not ignoring the building. It's stretching what you have to maintain what is there."
