RAs advocate dorm living

Ohio State student Samantha McGuire loves the dorms.

So much, in fact, that the junior in international studies is a resident advisor in Morrison Tower and has lived in the dorms since she was a freshman. McGuire also plans on returning for her fourth and final year.

"My floor-mates and I call ourselves a family," she said with a smile.

OSU raises recycling bar

Ohio State has adopted a new environmental policy that sets the bar for universities looking to make their campus a little more environmentally friendly.

The new policy ensures that copy paper used on campus is at least 30 percent recycled material, according to an OSU press release. This policy allows the university to save enough energy to power 62 homes, save water resources and landfill space and defend over 8,000 trees.

Gee creates new admin positions

Last week President E. Gordon Gee announced a new organizational structure for Ohio State senior faculty members, giving some of them new titles and new responsibilities in an effort to make Ohio State a more productive university.

Gee has named Jeff Kaplan Senior Vice President. He will oversee the existing administrative structure of Student Affairs, in addition to his current duties as Vice President of the University Medical Center.

Intro science class explores cows - literally
It's not unusual for a class to start a few minutes late at Ohio State. Classroom doors are locked, absent-minded professors arrive late, and computers or projectors malfunction.

And on the Ag Campus recently, students had to wait on some strange instructional tools: two dairy cows and a calf.

Go Fly a Kite
Vikas Gampa enjoys the warm evening by flying his Spiderman kite on the Oval Wednesday. Gampa said the warmer temperature was perfect timing for the beginning of the quarter when there is little homework and more free time to enjoy the outdoors.
