Aerospace students attempt to tap moon dust for O2
Gas stations on the moon?

It's not implausible.

Future astronauts could potentially stop by the moon on their way to Mars or beyond to pick up oxygen extracted from lunar soil.

Four Ohio State aerospace engineering students took a ride on a NASA plane last week to test the extraction process. The students conducted experiments to see if minerals in the moon's soil can be converted to oxygen for fuel or for astronauts to breathe.

Al Gore to speak at Schottenstein Center

This information and more can be found in former Vice President Al Gore's book and documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."

Gore's popular documentary explains the concept of global warming and what individuals can do to help.

Outreach programs receive recognition
Numerous Ohio State programs were recognized for their commitment to outreach and engagement Wednesday, including the winner of the prestigious W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award.

"We must shift from the notion of outreach to one of engagement. Engagement expands on that and implies a reciprocal relationship, a partnership," said President E. Gordon Gee, the honorary lecturer at the fifth annual James F. Patterson Land-Grant University Lecture.

Brutus invades Columbus

Ohio State's mascot is getting a makeover.

The first 15 Brutus Buckeye statues arrived in Columbus yesterday to kick off the "Brutus on Parade" program. Sponsors from central Ohio will decorate the Brutus statues to raise money for the renovation of The William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library.
