Koufos to enter NBA draft

For the second straight year, Thad Matta's most prized recruit is leaving to enter the NBA draft.

Freshman center Kosta Koufos announced Monday that he will declare but will not hire an agent, therefore maintaining his remaining three years of eligibility should he decide to back out of the June draft.

Hale loses first of year against Purdue

Little details make a huge difference in baseball.

Something as minor as a fingernail or the brand of bat used can help determine wins and losses. That was the case this past weekend, as Ohio State lost three of four to Purdue. The series defeat left the Buckeyes (19-14, 8-6 Big Ten) firmly behind the Boilermakers (19-17, 11-4) in fourth place in the Big Ten standings.

Female OSU students spending free time on gridiron

Just hours after the Ohio State spring game came to an end Saturday, another band of gridiron warriors took to the turf 10 miles south of Ohio Stadium in Grove City. The Columbus Comets hosted the St. Louis Slam to open their 2008 season in the National Women's Football Association.

Despite grit and determination the Comets came up short, falling to the Slam 18-16. This came as a tough loss, as the Slam handed the Comets - the defending NWFA Southern Conference champions - their only two regular season losses last year.

Freshman gives big gift on softball senior day

For the Ohio State softball team (27-20, 5-11 Big Ten), the walk-off single by freshman Rachael Shepherd in game two of the doubleheader Sunday helped salvage another tough weekend in the Big Ten.

In the first two games of the weekend, the Buckeyes welcomed the No. 5 ranked Michigan Wolverines (41-4, 11-1) to Buckeye Field for what would turn out to be a dominating performance for the Maize and Blue.
