Teaching students money skills

by Angela Henderson

Giving her credit card over to cashiers is a typical part of the day for Amy Kaufholz. She can't tell you what her latest purchases were; she didn't save her receipts.

"I use it probably three times a day," said Kaufholz, a sophomore in pre-special education.

New Webmail system still contains glitches

by Wilson Dizard

Glitches still remain in Ohio State's new Webmail system that prevent users from receiving mail. The system once denied access to about 8,000 people.

"Mail was being delivered, you just couldn't access it." said Larry Glover, associate director of operations at the Office of Information Technology, who was directly responsible for the e-mail overhaul.

OIT recently completed a two-year process of transferring all OSU e-mail accounts to a new Sun-Java Webmail system. The system, designed to handle a greater number of e-mails at one time, cost the University $773,180 and required more than 9,000 hours of work from OIT staff. However, problems still remain and most of them are software-related, according to OIT officials.

The capital city welcomed three new sister cities this week - Ahmedabad, India; Zapopan, Mexico; and Kumasi, Ghana - bringing the total to 10.
