Lantern editor returns to campus to finish education

Richard Stelling still remembers the names of people he photographed amid the rubble of their homes.

"It was touching, thrilling and sad," he said of covering the devastating Palm Sunday tornadoes of 1965 that killed more than 200 people and left more than 3,000 wounded for The Lantern.

Army ROTC cadets to compete at West Point
Moving a wounded comrade one kilometer through rugged terrain, maneuvering over a 12-foot wall while strapped with heavy gear and making a raft out of ponchos are all in a day's work for members of Ohio State's Army ROTC.

Saturday, 11 ROTC cadets will compete in the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition at West Point, home of the United States Military Academy. OSU is one of four schools out of 274 eligible chosen to participate in the competition.

Former police captain advocates end to drug war
A "South Park" episode, women's suffrage and alcohol prohibition were only a few of the topics a retired police officer discussed Tuesday night during his plea to end the war on drugs.

Peter Christ, formerly a captain in upstate New York, spoke at Stillman Hall, focusing on what he called a drug policy that does not work.

Rock the Block

Ohio State students, faculty and staff will participate in a community service event called "Rock the Block" from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday May 4th. The event focuses on cleaning up the university district. Registration is between 11-11:45 a.m. on 15th and High. Students talk straight about race

Students who gathered for a small discussion Tuesday about race in America agreed there is a racial divide and only a conscious effort over time will change things.

"I think many of us in the classroom are really interested," said Leslie Alexander, a professor of history who led the discussion. "Witnessing a presidential campaign in which you see a woman and an African American both as viable candidates saddling it out for the Democratic nomination."

Women's health fair to host panel

The Ohio State community is invited to attend a free women's health fair today in celebration of Women's Health Month. The event is not just for women - men are encouraged to participate.

"This is the first time we've had a campus-wide health fair that addresses everybody on campus," said prospective health care program manager Patrice Rancour.
