Rock the Block

Ohio State students, faculty and staff will participate in a community service event called "Rock the Block" from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday May 4th. The event focuses on cleaning up the university district. Registration is between 11-11:45 a.m. on 15th and High. NASA leader to discuss climate change

James Hansen, director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, will discuss climate change and its threat to our planet. The 66th Annual Bownocker Lecture will be held at the Fawcett Center on Olentangy Road May 1 at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by The Ohio State University School of Earth Sciences in conjunction with The Climate, Water and Carbon Program.

Film Director Alumnus to visit OSU

Ohio State alumnus Steve Martino, director of 20th Century Fox's animated feature film "Horton Hears a Who!," will visit campus May 1 to work with students and give a presentation. He will discuss how he translated Dr. Seuss's images to 3D designs and behind-the-scenes footage on the animation of the film. The event is in room 10 of Page Hall and starts at 4:30 p.m. For information call Victoria Ellwood with the College of the Arts, 292-6299.

Mother's Day 5k

The Second and Seven Foundation and the Student Athlete Advisory Board are hosting a Mother's Day 5k run/walk to benefit improved literacy in Columbus Elementary y schools on Sunday May 11. The event begins at 10 a.m. and kicks off with a speech from OSU alumnus and former football player Mike Vrabel. Registration is $20 before May 4 and $25 after.
