The South Oval was transformed into a melting pot of cultures Tuesday afternoon.

Blue lights signal safety

In spring 2006, J.T. Slack and his friends were walking along High Street and 17th Avenue after a night out. He hit the emergency phone button and a Columbus Division of Police officer traveling north on High Street immediately made a U-turn.

The officer confronted Slack, currently a junior in civil engineering, and told him that pushing the button was not a wise thing to do when no help is needed. Slack apologized as the officer left, Slack said. He said he thought the situation was over, but then Ohio State police showed up.

OSU seeks to fill vice provost post

Ohio State has created a new vice provost position for global strategy and international affairs. The vice provost will be in charge of furthering the reputation of OSU as an internationally recognized university.

"To truly be an eminent 21st century university, you need to truly be a global university," said Daniel Sedmak, executive vice dean of the College of Medicine and chair of the search committee.

Hayes statue given low priority by USG

It has been more than a year since the original ballot to build a Woody Hayes statue, estimated at more than $30,000, was initiated.

The ballot was introduced by Undergraduate Student Government Sen. Patrick Sprinkle and voted on during last year's USG election.
