Student wallets running on fumes
When Stacy Clark started working at the Exxon station on Lane Avenue, gasoline was less than $2 a gallon. Five years have passed and gas prices have doubled.

In just the last year, gas has increased almost a dollar. Gas was $3.14 a gallon in May of 2007, according to NBC Channel 4. It is now $3.95 a gallon.

"It's crazy - it's more than the cigarettes," Clark said.

Police investigate rape in Kinnear Commons

A female reported she had been raped early Monday morning in her Commons on Kinnear apartment.

The 22-year-old said she was in the presence of a Hispanic male, black male and black female before she woke up and felt as though she had been raped, according to campus police reports.

Hundreds of people packed the Ohio State University Medical Center Plaza in front of Rhodes Hall Tuesday to hear Lance Armstrong, who owns seven Tour de France victories, speak about his latest movement to raise cancer awareness.

Yellow LIVESTRONG bracelets, T -shirts and hats were plentiful at the rally.

Weather balloons take flight
The layer of air right above the ground is in constant tumult - temperature, moisture and wind change constantly as a result of friction between ground and atmosphere. Students in an introductory geography course gathered in the Oval yesterday morning to launch weather balloons in an effort to study the structure of the atmosphere.

"It's a great day for flying," said Jim Degrand of OSU's geography department.

Teachers make even bigger impact

Kaela King had doubts. How would she do it? How would she confront poverty and a culture of gangs, which dominated a large portion of her students' after-school lives? She was an English and philosophy major, fresh out of Ohio State standing in a tough urban school in Brooklyn, N.Y., about to teach eighth-grade students for the first time, many of whom were reading on a fourth-grade level.

Service to be held in memory of students

May 19 there will be a memorial service for all Ohio State students who died during the 2007-8 school year. A non-denominational service will be held at the Browning Amphitheater on the South Oval. The annual service is cosponsored by the Office of Student Affairs' University Interfaith Association and the Student Advocacy center.
