Ohio attorney general resigns

Facing possible impeachment, Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann resigned amid the scandal of a sexual harassment investigation in his office and his extramarital affair.

Dann, 46 and a Democrat, led the state on a 10-day odyssey, at first refusing to resign despite demands by Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland and others within his party, a growing number of investigations into conduct at his office and the filing Tuesday of articles of impeachment against him.

Dann, appearing beside Strickland, said it was necessary to leave to preserve the ability of the office to carry out the priorities he established.

Take Back the Night to protest violence against women

Take Back the Night  to protest violence against women
People will march and chant on campus streets tonight, advocating an end to violence against women.

But no men will be present during the march, and only women's voices will be heard.

Take Back the Night is an international event to raise awareness of rape and sexual violence against women and children and is held annually at Ohio State.

Money pumped into hospital expansion

The "electricians" and "plumbers" at the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital will have new labs and better equipment to save lives.

The Board of Trustees recently approved another expansion of the hospital on the heels of the $26 million two-floor expansion in 2005 that will be completed in June.

Birth control everyone's responsibility

Birth control everyone's responsibility
The responsibility of birth control has fallen on females since its invention.

But a range of birth control methods now being tested suggest that society is putting more responsibility on males when it comes to using protection, according to Katye Miller, a coordinator at the Student Wellness Center.

USG drops passed issues

During last month's elections, Undergraduate Student Government passed seven issues.

Only four will be pursued.

The decision to not pursue issues five, eight and nine was made by the Council on Student Affairs committee.

Bike to Work Week gets city's workforce rolling

Columbus' first Bike to Work Week is off to a rolling start despite of the rainy weather.

In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles and limit the amount of vehicle emissions, the League of American Bicyclist's has declared May 12 to May 16 national Bike to Work Week.

Senate concludes year

As the school year winds down for most students and faculty, the University Senate is finishing business in preparation for summer break.

"The senate is mostly functioning through committees and they're working all the time," said Rick Herrmann, chair of the Steering Committee.
