Gee to move into new role at Ohio State after retirement

Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee’s retirement July 1 may bring changes to the university administration, but Gee will still be calling Columbus home. His contract with the university states should Gee choose to retire before the end of his term, which was due to last at least ten years beginning in 2007, he will be granted “the permanent status of President Emeritus, with an appropriate stipend, secretary and office for a period of five years.
Summit on 16th church has firm 'open doors' policy, embraces LGBT community

The banner hanging over the tall, wooden cross-bearing doors of Summit on 16th United Methodist Church reads, “Open hearts, open minds, open doors.” The doors to the building have been open to members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community since the 1980s, when the church offered overnight housing to an Ohio State LGBT student group as a statement of support, according to Summit on 16th’s website.

A new chief medical officer has been named for Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Andrew Thomas, medical director of University Hospital, an internal medicine doctor and associate dean of OSU’s College of Medicine graduate medical education, will start at his new position July 1, announced by the Wexner Medical Center Saturday, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Men's assistant basketball coach Chris Jent to join Sacramento Kings

Assistant Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Jent has accepted an offer from the Sacramento Kings to become an assistant coach on new coach Mike Malone’s staff. Jent joined the OSU coaching staff in 2011 after spending time as an assistant coach in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. If Gee had made derogatory comments about Asians, Jews, African Americans, gays, Muslims, Hispanics or many other ethnic, religious or community groups, the Board likely would have summarily fired him.
