Ohio State quarterback Joe Bauserman, who is known as a passing quarterback, scrambles upfield against Toledo.

It seems Ohio State head coach Luke Fickell has made his decision about who his starting quarterback is.

Senior quarterback Joe Bauserman was under center for the entire game against Toledo on Saturday afternoon. True freshman quarterback Braxton Miller did not see a single snap.

With OSU's back up against the wall, trailing to Toledo in the second quarter, Fickell opted to go with the senior instead of the freshman in the game. Fickell said after the game that the game plan was to have Miller play in the second quarter.

"We were going to use him, we had a plan maybe to be in that second quarter, very similar to last week," Fickell said. "It just didn't work out the way we had probably planned it in our head, and we'll continue to move forward."

Bauserman did not play to the standards he set for himself last week, passing for 189 yards and a touchdown. He completed just more than 50 percent of his passes, but did not turn the ball over.

"I want to get back and look at the film. There were a lot of throwaways down there," Bauserman said. "Maybe I could have squeezed them in, but most important thing is no turnovers."

Fickell described the decision to not play Miller as a gut decision.

"It's just one of those gut decisions you've got to make out there," Fickell said. "We've made some changes defensively that we had planned that maybe we were going to go with, and things just weren't going the way we had them planned."

While Miller has the play-making ability that comes with a running quarterback, clearly Fickell will look to rely on the experience of the senior.

When asked about the added pressure that comes with being the starting quarterback, Bauserman said that he expects to be the guy to go out there and play.

"I expect to be in until they tell me not to be," Bauserman said. "Got to be ready."

Bauserman talked about Miller's attitude on the sideline during the game.

"You're always going to be frustrated when you're not playing." Bauserman said. "He came here to play... He's learning and he's got to be ready."

Bauserman said that regardless of who is going to be quarterback, he's always got to be ready to play. Fickell has decided, without saying it, that Bauserman is his quarterback.

"It shows that I have consistency and leadership," Bauserman said. "If you don't have the confidence, you can't do that."

I think all the bosser lovers are missing the point. Just wait until after the UMiami game and you will see that playing bosser is a waste, as is this year. Let's play Miller with the young fresh receivers and build for the next few years. This young talent is the only bright spot for this team. This will help w recruiting an area we are getting crushed right now.

Please note that bosser cannot move to his left. His pocket awareness is below D1 level.

Remember Akron didn't hire Fickell.....

Not fair to boo Bauserman, he is a good loyal, stand=up Buckeye, BUT! it is foolish not to give Miller continued play experience. The worst apparent current problem is tow fold-lack of defensive depth when a Nathan Williams is out with injuries, and a pitiful special teams performance! Missing FGs will lose close games! And kickoff-and punt return coverages a real weakness as last year. Where is Fickell on this? Luke was a first class athlete and a good defensive coach but his offense reeks of just more Tressel ball-and his QB playing judgement suspect. Hope to see UMiami game down here in florida, but hope Fickell gets out of this same rut!

A fan of the team would NEVER boo their own team even if you didn't like the decisions or calls being made. I think the Todd Boeckman experience backs Fickell up on keeping Braxton out and gives him time to continue to learn and develop. I don't know why Urban Meyer's name would be brought up at all, unles we were talking about a coach that would give OSU a black eye worse that Coach Tressel or Randy Ayers Tressel rushed Pryor into starting and it cost us what should of been a better season. Also before people call for Coach Fickells head they should remember Tressel's first year record (7-5). Support your team, support your coach and support the players on the field regardless of your personal preferences...its part of being a TEAM.

Sun Sep 11 2011 17:56 posting has the facts completely wrong. Urban would not have started Miller as he demonstrated as the coach of Florida when he started Chris Leak over Tim Tebow his freshman year. I think all good coaches like Fickell understand that Quarterbacks are not ready for primetime there freshman year. Miller is our future and Bauserman is our best chance this year. Secondly Boeckman was the quarterback Prior replaced. That is the worst mistake Tressel ever made as coach. Boeckman took us to the National Championship game and we benched him the next year for a freshman QB. How did that work out? Prior was a terrible QB and Tressel continued to start him! I am happy as a buckeye that we no longer have Tressel or Prior. Maybe we can now move past the high school offensive play calling and move to the college football.

So what does that tell you after what Pryor (Tat 5) did people have the nerve to booo Bauserman? If Miller is rushed to the field he might turn into an egomaniac 'star" athlete and forget the "student" or TEAM part. This tells me in the end it's about WINNING and fans can ruin a sport. I just hope Miller doesn't have a daddy, mentor, or homeboys in his ear RUINING his career.......Fickle will know when its time to put Miller in the game!!!!

I couldn't agree more with posts from 02:15 and 07:47. A few years ago I sat in the suite with Archie Griffin while the starting QB was booed because people wanted Pryor to play. Archie was so upset that people would boo someone from their own team. I thought it classless of the booers. I really don't understand why people are clammoring for Miller so badly after the Pryor debacle. I guess people don't want to learn from history. I'm not saying that Miller will turn out to be like Pryor, but putting Miller on a pedastal before he has even proved himself in a game will only result in a bigger head (aka Pryor).

Our real beef needs to be with our special teams - WTH is going on there?!?

No true fan would boo their own players or want Urban Meyer as a coach at Ohio State.

You all clearly know nothing. Just angry fans whose favorite player on the team is the backup. This all happened with Pryor as a freshman and he ended up taking over as the starter and look where he turned out to be....a jackass. Miller may very well be the better man but if they felt Bauserman was the guy that had to go with then thats what you do. And for any of you that were at the game booing Bauserman, shame on you. Thats pathetic and no true fan would ever do that.

I was at the game and was extremey disappointed that Braxton Miller did not get a chance to play. Bauserman was horrible and there were numerous opportunities for Coach Fickell to put Miller into the game to bring back the spark to the Buckeye Offense. Bauserman is a backup and if he is allowed to play against Miami, I shudder to think how bad we will get beat.

Yes, Bauserman. You are consistently bad. Fickell won't last more than a year if he keeps making poor coaching decisions. The fact that Miller wasn't even given one drive shows that Fickell is not head coach material. Bring on Urban Meyer, please.

Urban Meyer certainly would have used Braxton Miller. Hope he hangs around until next year. Because if we go the way of Bauserman, we are going to lose three or four games anyway. Not playing Braxton was the wrong thing to do. Fickel must not have seen Bauserman last year behind Terell. Why do you think Tressel used Terrell and took a chance with him. It was worth the chance to lose a game and keep going. Urban Meyer will be the next coach at OSU. He is in the wings waiting for his chance. Then maybe we will see Braxton unless he decides to leave OSU and go somewhere else

Ditch Joe Loserman! He is the same two dimensional player he was last year. He cant run and he cant see the whole field and he is a marginal passer. Go with Braxton Miller he is our future. Let's take our lumps with him now and let him grow.

Ditto, Braxton has mobility, Joe didn't show any, the coaching was horrible, the prepartion was lacking, the decision not to kick deep on kickoffs, who came up with that idea? Since when does Toledo have better athletes than us? Why couldn't we defend the bubble screen, they ran it over & over. I'm having second thoughts about attending the Miami game.

Couldn't agree more. We need more playmakers and speed to compete with top level teams. Miller gives us a chance...

JOE is not the man for the team..He cannot handle pressure ..I didn't see Miller force nothing in the first game..He didn't get 1 chance to prove himself.. I think Braxton would have kept the chains moving and made way better throws on the run...LUKE enjoy your last year...Urban Meyer would have won this game by 20... Play Makers win games not Seniors!!! LOOK AROUND!!
