Former Ohio State running back Daniel “Boom” Herron will continue his football career in the Buckeye State with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bengals selected Herron with the No. 21 in the sixth round of the NFL Draft Saturday.
Herron appeared in just seven games for the Buckeyes in 2011 after being suspended for the first five games of the season for selling OSU football memorabilia in exchange for improper benefits in the form of tattoos. Herron was then suspended an additional game for receiving money for work he did not complete during a summer 2011 job.
Herron was still elected as team captain by his teammates after his senior campaign, in which he rushed for 675 yards and three touchdowns. He finished his OSU career with 2,869 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns in 42 games.
Herron, a four-time Buckeyes letterman, graduated in December with a degree in African-American studies, and leaves OSU ranked as the 10th all-time leading rusher.
