Students who wish to do a little holiday shopping or find a job for winter break don’t have to look to far.A portion of the new Lennox Town Center will be open by the end of December, said Carla Wise, spokeswoman for the Don M. Casto Organization, who is working on the center.Wise said that AMC Theatres Cinema, Staples and Don Pablos restaurant will be the first three businesses to open.Champs, Bath &Body Works, Cup O’ Joe, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Target and Just For Feet are the other stores to be located in the Town Center, just off of Olentangy River Road, between Kinnear Road and King Avenue.Wise said these stores will be open by Easter.’The Lennox Town Center will provide shopping, dining and entertainment to an under-served population of consumers, including the students, staff and faculty of OSU,’ said Diane Zibell, spokeswoman for the Don M. Casto Organization.Zibell said that the Town Center’s proximity to campus, tenant mix and pedestrian friendly design will make it a popular retail sight for students. The Center will have 2,500 parking spaces, Wise said.Joe Williams, director of Real Estate for Campus Partners, said the center will be a great addition to campus.’The big draw is the 24-screen theater,’ Williams said.Williams said that the biggest plus to OSU students will be the amount of jobs the Town Center will bring.’There are a ton of employment opportunities,’ Williams said.Williams said that Lennox will give people another reason to live on campus.’It gives students what they want within walking distance,’ Williams said.Steve Sterrett, spokesman for Campus Partners, said the Town Center will not take away business from High Street retailers. Lennox allows large retailers into the campus area, Sterrett said.’It will provide access to retail and entertainment that will not fit on High Street,’ Sterrett said. This suburban entertainment will not compete with High Street because people will spend more of their time on High Street, Sterrett said.People come to High Street to socialize and eat at small restaurants, he said. High Street retailers are specialized, urban, regional and focus mainly on the student market.Sterrett said the Lennox Town Center will provide campus with a diversity of stores that students had to go to the suburbs to find.
