As long as the Buckeyes keep a winning streak on the playing field and in the classroom, E. Gordon Gee plans on being around. In a list compiled by news and information services at the University of Michigan, Gee was one of 304 candidates nominated to take over the presidency of Ohio State’s biggest rival.Almost every time there is a university search such as the one at Michigan, Gee is a nominee, said Ruth Gerstner, director of news services. ‘Anyone can submit a name for nomination,’ Gerstner said. ‘A lot of times the person on the list doesn’t even know.’Gee said he did know and was called upon to submit an application, but refused.’I’m very happy here,’ he said. ‘This happens to me on every university nomination, but I’ve responded negatively to them.’Kate Wolford, assistant to the president, said she had not heard of Gee’s nomination, but knows that he is a popular man.’He’s quite sought after,’ Wolford said.Gee’s name has appeared frequently on university search lists, Gerstner said.’He’s been listed about 20 times in the last two to three years,’ she said. But, Gee assures OSU that he plans on staying a while. ‘I’ll stay as long as you guys will let me,’ he said.
