LeBron James survived Hummergate, but he still couldn’t get past the Ohio High School Athletic Association. James, the nation’s top high school basketball player and projected NBA star, was ruled ineligible Friday because he accepted free sports jerseys. The senior from St. Vincent-St. Mary, a high school near Cleveland, was given two throwback jerseys totaling $845 by a local clothing store. The decision came only days after James was cleared of any wrong doing by accepting a $50,000 Hummer from his mother for his birthday. He is appealing the decision. More details will be available in Monday’s Lantern.
