Former Ohio State football recruit Andrew Lee was sentenced yesterday to life in prison without parole for the death of Columbus woman, Shauna Sandercock.

Lee was convicted of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, rape and kidnapping on March 15.

Judge Michael H. Watson is expected to accept the sentence at a hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Watson will also determine if Lee will be classified as a sexual predator.

Prosecuting attorney Richard Termuhlen said the sexual predator hearing does not have much bearing on the sentence because Lee has been given life without parole. He also noted the judge’s hearing to accept the sentence as a formality.

Termuhlen will seek consecutive sentences – expected in the context of Lee’s sentence.

He said he is pleased the jury decided on the sentence.

“The family of the victim was very grateful also,” Termuhlen said.

Lee was recruited to the Ohio State football team on a scholarship in fall 2000. He was suspended from OSU and dismissed from the team in October of that year, after being convicted of beating a North Linden woman.

Sandercock worked at the Game-Arama store on West Broad Street, which was owned by her fiancé Floyd Baker. She was found naked, lying face-down on the floor of the store on March 25, 2002.
