The Ohio State men’s volleyball team (26-6) won its first National Championship, defeating California-Santa Barbara (18-15), 3-2, on Saturday.

OSU dropped the first set, 25-20, while committing nine service errors, but rebounded with a 25-20 win in the second and a 25-19 win in the third.

The Buckeyes could not finish in the next set, however, and UCSB pushed it to a fifth set with a 25-22 win.

After a back-and-forth final set, OSU went up, 11-9, and never looked back.

Sophomore Derek Kues came in and served the final four points, and redshirt senior Steven Kehoe finished the game with a block.

Junior Shawn Sangrey led the Buckeyes with 30 kills, his season high, while Kehoe added a team-high 65 assists.
