Donatos Pizza, located at 2084 N. High Street, was the target of an armed robbery at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Ohio State University Police issued a Timely Warning around 6 a.m. Wednesday detailing the robbery, which occurred just off of OSU’s campus.

The police report said the suspect was seen carrying a handgun in his waistband and fled northbound from the area.

University police did not respond to the scene and sent the Timely Warning out based solely on the Columbus Division of Police notifications, a dispatcher for University police told The Lantern.

University police did not immediately respond to The Lantern‘s requests for further comment on the incident.

The report described the suspect as a white male between the heights of 6-feet and 6-feet-2, wearing a “puffy” black jacket with fur lining and a black OSU baseball hat.

Columbus police are still investigating the robbery. The robberies investigation unit told The Lantern the only information immediately available is the police report, but that details would be available late Wednesday.

The Donatos Pizza location affected by the incident referred The Lantern to its corporate office for comment on the issue.

Tom Santor, director of marketing for Donatos Pizza, said the most important thing is that no customers or workers were hurt.

“Our No. 1 priority when something like this happens is the safety and security of our employees,” Santor said. “We are pleased that nobody was hurt.”

Santor said the company is limited to comment since the investigation is still ongoing.

“Since the investigation is still ongoing, we really can’t say much more,” he said.

The incident is the latest in a string of armed robberies in the campus area. The Timely Warning was the sixth in as many weeks for armed robberies near OSU’s campus.
