Despite a previously 3-7 record on the road, the Ohio State women’s basketball team knocked off Illinois, 64-53, Thursday night in Champaign, Ill.
The Buckeyes took a 31-26 lead into halftime, and never looked back.
Leading the way for OSU were junior center Ashley Adams, who finished the night with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and senior guard Tayler Hill, who scored 21 points and dished out three assists.
OSU shot 48 percent from the field and held the Illini to just 30 percent shooting.
Perhaps fittingly, Illinois was led in scoring by their seniors on their Senior Night. Senior center Karisma Penn finished her last game at Assembly Hall with 24 points and 14 rebounds, and senior forward Adrienne GodBold added 14 points and three rebounds.
OSU now improves to 16-12 on the season and 6-9 in Big Ten play. Illinois drops to 16-11 on the year and 9-6 in the conference. The win marks the seventh straight game the Buckeyes have held their opponents to under 60 points scoring.
OSU’s next and final game of the regular season is against Michigan (20-8, 9-6 Big Ten) Sunday at the Schottenstein Center at noon.
