A male bicyclist was hit by an Ohio State Campus Area Bus Service bus near the intersection of Chittenden Avenue and Summit Street Wednesday.

According to the Columbus Division of Police dispatch, a witness had to be walked through chest compressions as the victim was not breathing at the time of the incident. However, when the medics arrived, the victim was breathing.

The victim is not an OSU student, said the OSU Wexner Medical Center Emergency Room Services.

The Columbus Police got the report at 1:43 p.m., and the victim was transferred to the Medical Center at 1:55 p.m. in “serious critical condition,” according to the Columbus Police dispatch.

Summit Street is closed between 12th and Chittenden avenues as the scene will be held for investigation if the victim’s case worsens.

The victim’s name has not been disclosed, and the cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

An email to OSU’s Transportation Route Information Program requesting comment was not immediately responded to Wednesday evening.
