After winning its eighth national title in school history, the Ohio State football team and coach Urban Meyer are set to show their gratitude yet again.

In an email to students Friday, Meyer announced that OSU will host the fourth annual Student Appreciation Day on April 11, one week before the Spring Game at Ohio Stadium.

In the email, Meyer said more details will be released “in the coming weeks” regarding the event, which in years past has been held at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Olentangy River Road where the Buckeyes traditionally practice.

Meyer added in the email that, “There will be opportunities to take pictures with the National Championship trophy along with other Ohio State traditions.”

The Student Appreciation Day is a tradition Meyer started just months after accepting the OSU job in November 2011.

In the past, students have kicked field goals, competed in the 40-yard dash and, as recently as last year, participated in warm up drills with the team.

In 2014, it was estimated that 2,500 students attended the event.
