ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Ohio State was dealt a massive blow in the third quarter of its 31-20 win against Michigan when starting quarterback J.T. Barrett was injured. Barrett didn’t return, but, in his postgame press conference, he said he will play against Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game.
The redshirt senior was injured during a 10-yard rush with 6:07 left in the third quarter. He stood momentarily without applying any pressure to his right leg before falling to the ground, where he was attended to by training staff while clutching his knee. He was able to walk off the field and immediately headed to the locker room.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Dwayne Haskins replaced Barrett under center. Haskins finished 6-of-7 for 94 passing yards. He added 24 rushing yards on three carries.
When he exited, Barrett was 3-for-8 for 30 yards with a touchdown. He added 15 rushes for 67 yards and a 21-yard touchdown rush. The Buckeyes trailed the Wolverines 20-14 at the time.
