Ohio State bounced back from its second loss of the year with a 48-3 win against Michigan State and was rewarded for its performance by jumping from No. 13 to No. 9 in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings.

No. 5 Wisconsin is the highest-ranked Big Ten team. If the Buckeyes defeat Illinois and Michigan, they will face the Badgers in the Big Ten championship game. Likewise, if Wisconsin beats Michigan this week and Ohio State defeats Illinois, the Buckeyes clinch a spot in the conference title game.

Fellow Big Ten teams No. 10 Penn State, No. 16 Michigan State, No. 23 Northwestern and No. 24 Michigan also made it into the rankings. Ohio State will play against Michigan at noon Nov. 25.

No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Miami (Fl.) and No. 4 Oklahoma are currently in the field. Fifth-ranked Wisconsin and sixth-ranked Auburn sit just outside the top four.
