Koffolt and Fontana labs will undergo construction as part of the Advanced Materials Corridor project beginning in April. The renovation plans include additional research labs, offices and classrooms.

According to Board of Trustees documents released Monday, the total project cost is estimated at $59.1 million, which includes $5.7 million for the construction.

Funding for the project comes from university debt, development funds, university funds, auxiliary funds and state funds, according to the documents.

Pending Board approval, the project will connect the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Chemistry plaza to the west side of Koffolt and Fontana labs.

The construction is predicted to last until December 2019.
