Every year in late November, we relish in crossing out every letter “M” all across our beautiful campus, and then we all enjoy the stories and the camaraderie that follows.
What happens afterward is anything but beautiful; fading and peeling red tape over any “M” for months, or even years, to come, in some cases permanently damaging the surfaces to which they are applied. In my opinion, this becomes nothing more than graffiti left on our signage and other architectural details in which the university has invested many thousands of dollars.
This day in age, with our incomparable ability to innovate, we need to develop a better way to show our Buckeye pride — either by utilizing electronic technology, using or developing an adhesive-based product that allows us to continue this custom in a way that does not conflict with our dedication to sustainability and elimination of waste.
