After landing four-star forward Alonzo Gaffney, the No. 1 Ohio recruit in the class, the Ohio State men’s basketball team continued to build its 2019 class in big ways Saturday when five-star point guard DJ Carton announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.

A Bettendorf, Iowa, native, Carton is rated as the No. 1 recruit in the state as well as the No. 2 point guard in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-1, 189-pound guard is rated as the No. 21 player in the 2019 class.

As the first five-star recruit the Buckeyes have landed since 2014 in D’Angelo Russell, Carton joins Russell, Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas as the only five-star recruits that Ohio State has had since 2009.
