Ohio State was ranked as the No. 5 team in the country according to the AP Preseason Poll released Monday. With Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Wisconsin as the top four teams listed, the Buckeyes failed to earn a first place vote.

Ohio State is one of five teams from the Big Ten in the AP Preseason Poll along with Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan.

In the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, released on Aug. 2, the Buckeyes were ranked as the No. 3 team in the nation behind Alabama at No. 1 and Clemson at No. 2 and did received one first place vote.

Last season, Ohio State was No. 2 in the preseason poll, receiving three first-place votes behind the No. 1 Crimson Tide.

The Buckeyes will have four ranked matchups this season, according to the preseason poll. Ohio State will face No. 16 TCU at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sept. 15. The Buckeyes will also face No. 10 Penn State at Beaver Stadium on Sept. 29.

Ohio State will also face both ranked teams from the state of Michigan, No. 11 Michigan State in East Lansing on Nov. 10 and Michigan at Ohio Stadium on Nov. 24.

The Buckeyes will open the season against Oregon State at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 1 at 12 p.m.
