A body recovered from the Scioto River was identified as Amber Evans, who has been missing since January.

A body recovered from the Scioto River has been identified as Amber Evans by the City of Columbus Police Department.

The body was originally discovered on Saturday and police announced Sunday that it had been identified as Evans, who has been missing since January 29.

“While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we understand this brings closure for the family,” the department said in a post on Twitter. “Our thoughts & prayers go out to them.”

Evans was 28 years old and an Ohio State alumna and former Lantern reporter.
