Ohio State added the first player to its 2021 recruiting class Sunday night when Convoy Crestview power forward Kalen Etzler announced his commitment to the Buckeyes on Twitter.

The Convoy, Ohio native is listed as a four-star prospect and the No. 51 overall recruit of the 2021 class by 247Sports.

“A special thank you to Coach Holtmann, Coach Pedon and the rest of the OSU staff for investing time in me and having the confidence to move forward together,” Etzler said in his Twitter announcement.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and 195 pounds, Etzler will add size and length to the Buckeye frontcourt.

The No. 2 recruit in the state, Etzler also had offers from Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Duquesne and Iowa.

Holtmann landed the No. 31, No. 57 and No. 59 recruits in his 2019 class with DJ Carton, E.J. Liddell and Alonzo Gaffney, and has yet to sign a top 60 recruit for 2020.
