Sophomore Justin Fields will start at quarterback for Ohio State against Florida Atlantic Aug. 31, head coach Ryan Day confirmed at a press conference Monday.

Fields transferred to Ohio State in January, granted a waiver by the NCAA to play immediately for the Buckeyes.

Fields became the highest-rated recruit in program history, rated as the No. 2 prospect in the class of 2018 while in high school.

At Georgia in 2018 he completed 27-of-39 passes for 329 yards and four touchdowns, with 266 yards and four touchdowns rushing. He served as backup to then-sophomore Jake Fromm.

Redshirt junior and Kentucky transfer Gunnar Hoak and redshirt senior Chris Chugunov provided the main competition for Fields during camp.
